We are so lucky to work with so many wonderful companies in the community. These compost 'early adopters' are invested in environmentally friendly business practices. Look below to find out more about the businesses working to create a cleaner greener Lincoln.
Broken Rail Brew :
Broken Rail joined our composting collection program after they grew too large to continue backyard composting their coffee grounds.
Southwood Lutheran Church:
"Caring for this beautiful world God created is important to our church. The more Styrofoam coffee cups we went through, the more we kept asking ourselves, “Isn’t there a better way?” Our research paid off after a call to Uribe Refuse! Their Waste to Energy program with a dedicated staff member, Melissa, offered an economical solution with expert guidance and support to make it easy and successful.
Steps to Sustainability:
• Our Green Team staff and volunteers were available in between services for several weeks.
• Cafe supplies were replaced with all compostable products
• Signage was created to offer easy-to-follow directions
• Tables showing actual examples of compostables, recyclables and trash items were set up.
The bottom line - a congregation that fully embraced this endeavor and very little financial impact, which was our biggest surprise!"
Clean Slate Food Co:
Clean Slate Food Co. provides several hundred customers each week with their meal delivery services and utilize compostable packaging in efforts to operate sustainably and cut down on waste. Customers have the option to return the containers, which Clean Slate then collects for commercial composting at no extra charge. Each week, over two full size 96 gallon waste bins are filled with 100% plant fiber compostable packaging that would otherwise go to the landfill.
SISU Hairdressing:
SISU Hairdressing in the Lincoln Haymarket is going the extra mile with its sustainability efforts and composting hair trimmings! We are so proud to be partnering with this progressive hair salon.
